Lake County - PerchFest

September 8, 9, & 10, 2006

On Lake Erie in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, yellow perch are plentiful — they're the most commonly caught fish in this part of the lake. The town has honored the abundance of perch
in the lake's waters with Perch Fest, an annual event that draws scores of families and fishermen to the town.  During the 3 day Perch Fest, participants fish for perch, then compete to see who caught the biggest fish. The winner gets a $1,000 prize.

After working up an appetite at the competition, visitors are sated with Ohio's largest fish fry, featuring, what else? Fried perch. During Perch Fest, more than 10,000 meals of fried perch are sold.
